THE EL PASO BORDER INITIATIVE AND SURVEY

The Board and Affiliate New Mission Initiative (ANMI) committee are asking Affiliates about their support for a new intentional community developing in El Paso, Texas.

At the January Board meeting, the Maryknoll Affiliate Board affirmed the beginning of the Affiliate El Paso Border Initiative project proposed by the ANMI committee. The committee was formed a year ago by the Board to identify new mission efforts for the Affiliate Movement in collaboration with other groups. (See the NSFA articles in March 2022 and January 2023 issues.)  The Board and the ANMI committee will continue to clarify the requirements for implementing this Border Initiative for the formation of a Maryknoll intentional community with the other Maryknoll expressions. Maryknoll Sisters, Fathers, and Lay Missioners are already living and working at the border in El Paso.

The Board needs to gauge how many Affiliates would participate at the border by spending a week or even months in this El Paso Border Community. Participation could also include remote assistance with record-keeping, publicity, advocacy, financial donations, or other needed services.

Please click on the link below and complete the survey to indicate your support of this initiative. Are you interested in a community at the Border that collaborates with Maryknoll missioners and others currently working there?
