Join us for February "At the Knoll" to participate in a guided discussion of the film The Letter. We hope you will join us, even if you do not have a chance to watch the film ahead of time. Please spread the word and invite your friends.
What is “The Letter”? … The Letter is a documentary which tells the story of a journey to Rome of frontline leaders to discuss the encyclical letter Laudato Si’ with Pope Francis. The exclusive dialogue with the Pope, included in the film, offers a revealing insight into the personal history of Pope Francis and stories never seen since he became the Bishop of Rome.
A few requests prior to Feb 28:
1. Please watch the movie if you can, as we won’t have time to view it in its entirety at the Zoom meeting. It’s approximately 1 hour and 15 minutes long, and it’s available free on Youtube. Click here! or type https://youtu.be/Rps9bs85BII into your browser.
2. Before watching the movie, prepare an 8 ½ by 11 inch piece of paper by drawing a horizontal line and a vertical line to divide the paper into quadrants. In the quadrants, write, “indigenous leader”, “youth climate advocate,” “marine biologists”, “refugee.” As you watch the movie, take some notes, writing down what you hear and see, or what your reactions are to the movie. Bring this piece of paper with you to this discussion.
3. If you were given the chance to add a 5th vignette that described an ecological issue in the US, what would you nominate?
4. What signs of hope do you see in the film, and in our world? What is your dream for our Common Home, and all that dwells in it?
We hope to see you online on February 28 for At the Knoll.
