Teilhard De Chardin - A BOOK OF HOURS (Orbis)

Sisters Kathleen Noone Deignan CND, PhD a teaching theologian and Libby (Elizabeth) Osgood, CND, PEng, an aerospace engineer. Have written this Book of Hours drawing from Teilhard de Chardin, one of the most influential spiritual thinkers of our time.

The book is arranged from a cosmic perspective under evolutionary themes. Each day is subdivided into Dawn, Day, Dusk and Dark. If you have some familiarity with the Divine Office / Breviary, the divisions will seem familiar to you. The evolutionary content is very different. A few examples follow in random order.

 I would like to speak

What I hear murmuring in me

Like a voice or a song which are not of me,

But of the World in me.

 

I would like to express the thoughts of someone

Who, having finally penetrated the partitions and ceilings

Of little countries, little coteries, little sects,

Rises above all these categories

And finds themselves a child and citizen of the Earth.

Which we owe to our new perspectives on Life,…
