Tending Our Communities with Megan McKenna

On Sat, Nov 6th, at 4 PM ET, more than 70 Affiliates and other Maryknollers attended the Mini Mac on Tending Communities with Megan McKenna. She was introduced by Ginny McEvoy. Megan began by engaging affiliates with a "creation story" and after a short breakout session with followup questions, she told a story from Mark's Gospel followed by another small group session with follow up questions. She responded to questions and comments in chat and shared her latest experiences with Indian Communities in NW Canada who are dealing with 4 generations of children missing from Residential Schools. Megan ended her presentation with a story from Guatemala that needs to be heard! The videotape of this conference will be available as soon as it is edited... (Ginny McEvoy, Affiliate Board Chair)

Some quotes from Megan’s presentation:

Megan during the Tending Our Communities session on Nov. 6th.

Do not be discouraged. The Holy Spirit is not asleep. (Merton in a letter to Dan Berrigan)

There is almost a sensual longing for communion with others who have a large vision. The immense fulfillment of the friendship between those engaged in furthering the evolution of consciousness has a quality impossible to describe. (Pierre Teilhard de Chardin.)

Forgiveness....(past) we are forgiven, set free and liberated from the past...from what we have failed to do, what we have done in collusion with others and how we have sinned.

(Present) we are for-given, sourced and imbued with grace and the Spirit to act and undo the harm that we have done [sometimes called penance] moved to conversion .

(Future)  we are given-for the future, to create a new and hope-filled reality singularly and with others, continuing the work of creation, and the kingdom of abiding justice and peace.

Mutual forgiveness is Reconciliation, literally in Hebrew and Greek, meaning 'to walk together again'...a new way of walking--like in a three-legged race, learning to walk with each other.
