Tales of Fr. Jack Sullivan's Journey With Us

Zoom gathering for Fr. Jack Sullivan - August 18, 2021

On August 18th over 35 members of the Maryknoll family gathered on Zoom to celebrate the countless ways Father Jack Sullivan had touched our lives. While it was an Affiliate sponsored event, participants from all the expressions of Maryknoll - Sisters, Fathers & Brothers, Lay Missioners and Affiliates - were present. Jack so often spoke in favor of one Maryknoll family. He must have been smiling to see that we gathered just that way.

We began tribute with the following quote from an unnamed Native American leader:

"For any initiative to be carried forward, there will need to be fire carriers, those individuals who carry a dream within their own community. To know what it takes to make things happen. To help bring peoples and cultures together. They will be leaders, modest but strong, encouraging and visionary. As with any community, they are few. And far between." Jack Sullivan was a fire carrier among us.
