August & September are already brimming with vital Affiliate (and beyond) events.  They are listed below for quick reference followed by a more detailed explanation. All are virtual and there is no fee.  In chronological order:

August 18 at 7pm ET: Celebration of Jack Sullivan’s Life. Sharing stories of how Jack touched us.

August 19 – 21: Global Workshop on Fratelli Tutti.  This is a MAJOR WORLD EVENT

Tribute to Fr. Jack Sullivan MM.

Former Affiliate Executive Coordinator, Fred Goddard wrote of Jack: Jack was a towering person in many ways, obviously not just in stature. Jack had what Walter Brueggemann called a “prophetic imagination.” He imagined a Maryknoll and a world beyond what most of us could imagine, one that was unified in its diversity and just in its cause. He saw Maryknoll as a whole, and not a divided group of entities seeking out their own interest. He not only imagined this, but he participated in it at every level, along with Maria Rickleman. He was critical to the beginning of the lay missioners and missioned to all Maryknollers through retreats and workshops. It was only fitting that one of his last major assignments would be with the Maryknoll Affiliates, yet another prophetic manifestation of Maryknoll.

Global Workshop on Fratelli Tutti – August 19 -22

Affiliates (Kenya hybrid Chapter) and chief architects of the conference, Marita & Gerry Grudzen wrote: Dear Maryknoll Kenyan Affiliates,

Joseph Healey and Bob Short personally invite to Building Human Solidarity in Light of Pope Francis Encyclical Letter: Fratelli Tutti.  This conference draws on the experience of people from diverse religious, cultural and economic backgrounds who are developing new ways to transcend many of the divisions that are afflicting the human community and our common home on planet earth. There is a lot of information which will allow you to choose the session you want to attend originating from Nairobi, USA, or Indonesia.    intruders during the sessions.  You will be able to send questions and comments through the chat function on Zoom and YouTube. Lisa Stengel, our Affiliate Website & Facebook designer will offer a training session on how to understand, utilize and know the marketing aspects of Facebook, Instagram, Twitter and other digital platforms. 

 In addition to being very versed in all these platforms, Lisa is an excellent and thoughtful teacher.  It you have any particular questions on Facebook, Instagram, our website or other platforms, she will be happy to answer them.

Chicago Affiliate, Renate Schneider, who has lived and worked in Haiti for many years is in the states now, doesn’t know if her home in Haiti survived the earthquake on Saturday and asked, “How much can a people bear?!” Please keep Renate and the people of Haiti in front of you these days.
