Coming Updates & Words to Inspire & Guide Us

These Words - When even two or three off us gather in the name of truth, honesty, and love, in the name of courage, compassion, and kindness, we find ourselves feeling joined by another presence – the presence of Christ, the way, the truth, and the life. (Brian McLaren)

Updates – realized & to come.

On Saturday, April 5, 2025, Affiliate Board Chair, Ginny McEvoy and Society Superior General, Fr. Lance Nadeau MM signed a licensing agreement confirming that Affiliates will continue to use
the Maryknoll name. Sr. Teresa Hougnon MM, President of the Sisters Leadership Team and Elvira Ramirez, MKLM Executive Director signed as witnesses.

Since officially becoming incorporated as a 501c3 nonprofit, we have secured a bank account, had funds held in custody by the Society were transferred to our new bank account; the Affiliate Board confirmed that Bob Short would continue in his role as Executive Coordinator; and carried out a myriad of administrative functions (e.g., a firm to carryout payroll functions, credit card and data processing,, incorporation of new areas onto the website, new formatting for NSFA (NTLH is already fully digital) are either in place or soon to be such. Further updates to come.

As the 501c3 status requires that we have a Board with fiduciary responsibilities, the Congregation, Society and MKLM have decided to withdraw from the Board to avoid any conflict of interest. Hopefully, in the future representative members from the other Maryknoll entities will be with us in some sort of advisory capacity.
We are also looking to have additional Affiliates join the new Board…Are you thinking about it?

Much of the above relates to some of the necessary administrative areas. They have been put in place so that we can better hold onto the essence of who we are – Maryknoll Affiliates challenge one another to witness to mission as a way of life by going beyond borders, locally and globally, walking with the poor and excluded, and striving for peace and justice for all of God's creation.

If we are to continue to remain a vital, committed community, this is a time to renew our commitment… to continue to gather in the name of truth, honesty, and love, in the name of courage, compassion, and kindness.
