Global Vision
solidarity with the world community
Maryknoll Affiliates foster in each other a global vision. We believe in a world that is made richer by its cultural and religious diversity, whether in countries around the globe or in our own communities. We promote a lifestyle characterized by respect for all creation and for our sisters and brothers around the world.
The Maryknoll Affiliate community believes in a global vision and seeks relationships based on mutuality, trust, patience, and presence, matching needs with resources. We share the spirit of Maryknoll through our work in our own communities or through service in other places around the world. It is in our relationship with Maryknoll and with one another that this call to mission—especially to be in solidarity with the poor, the oppressed, and the excluded—is nurtured.

Urkupiña Festival in Bolivia
The city of Quillacollo in the central eastern part of Bolivia holds the Urkupiña Festival every year.
This is a Catholic religious event in honor of the Virgin of Urkupiña.
According to faith and tradition, at the end of the seventeenth century, the image of the Virgin Mary was revealed on a local hill, carrying her son in her hands. The revelation left a strong impression on the believers, who since then and annually mark the occasion with ceremonies, prayers and festival. (Carnifest.com)
