The September/October 2019 edition of the Maryknoll Magazine includes a very poignant and moving article about Affiliate Ann Carr. Ann has been an Affiliate since 1993 and, even for those who know her (and they are many) you might be surprised to see a photo of Ann with her flock of goats at her new home in a rural neighborhood outside Philadelphia.
In one paragraph of the article, the author (Mary Ann Cejka) writes how Ann's understanding of what it means to be in mission expanded once she became an Affiliate over 25 years ago. She quotes Ann: "What impressed me about it most was its model of participatory leadership and its emphasis on global solidarity." At the beginning of the article is the headliner: - A Maryknoll affiliate provides medical care to children with special needs at home an overseas. The paragraphs that follow expose the breath and depth of Ann's commitment to mission and the particular way Ann has lived that out as a pediatrician and a woman. It is a powerful read.
If you don't receive the hard copy of the Magazine, the digital version - which I think will soon include the article - can be reached at: https://maryknollmagazine.org/
