Dr. Roxanne Hughes-Wheatland - New Affiliate Board Member

We are especially pleased to announce that Roxanne Hughes-Wheatland will be joining the Maryknoll Affiliate Board as of this month.  Given her very substantial work schedule, we are especially grateful that Roxanne has accepted this position.  Her personal and academic gifts are abundant as is her commitment to the mission vision we embrace as Maryknollers.  The Affiliate movement can only benefit from her presence with us. 

A member of the DC Chapter with Roxanne, said this about her on the nomination form:    

As a practicing doctor in psychology she will bring a unique and professional element to the task of as a Board member. During the 4 years which I have been associated with the DC Chapter of the Affiliates, her consistent guidance keep us on tract, and help focus the meetings on current socially action issues both international and local. Her personality and personal experiences always was with a positive expression allowing each to express their full thoughts (even though we (I) would go on a bit passionately.) She is able to help all realize our unconscious prejudices while still remaining a prayful group.

Dr. Roxanne Hughes-Wheatland received... a Ph.D. in neuropsychology from the Graduate Center of the City University of New York, and a Master's degree in international development from Gallaudet University. She has also received certification from the Academy of Certified Brain Injury Specialists (ACBIS). She completed a postdoctoral fellowship at Johns Hopkins School of Medicine, Department of Pediatrics and has worked in inpatient and outpatient settings for over 20 years.  Her clinical and research interests are brain injury, neurorehabilitation, deaf and hard of hearing children and adults, evaluation of individuals with low vision, and developmental disabilities in an international context.
