April Updates - Week One
Alpharetta, GA on June 3 - Gerald and Marita Grudzen, who are in the process of initiating a Chapter in Kenya (probably a hybrid virtual chapter)will be speaking about their present work in Kenya at a major international conference on relations between Christians and Muslims and its relationship to Human Rights violations in various parts of the world. The title of the conference is Interreligious Dialogue and Human Rights: Affirming our Solidarity. It will take place at the Istanbul Cultural Center is 551 N. Main St., Suite 100, Alpharetta, GA.
- Peru Disaster Relief Drive - the recently posted request for support from Affiliates to, in turn, support the Affiliates in Peru who are helping their people suffering from disastrous floods and landslides, has realized a more wonderful, fruitful response than we could have imagined. The number of Affiliates who have contributed and the amount contributed is, again, beyond expectation. The Affiliates in Lima and Arequipa will be surprised and elated with the solidarity shown by their sisters and brothers here. We are in the process of working out the details to make this a efficacious undertaking. Fr. Joe Fedora MM, in Peru has graciously volunteered to help with the distribution of funds over time. As the money is still coming in, we do not yet have a total count, but it is more than sufficient to the need and therefore this short-term fund raising drive will be over as of Tuesday, April 4th. THANK YOU FOR YOUR WONDERFUL SUPPORT AND GENEROSITY!! Weather reports from Peru are predicting continuous heavy rain for the next two weeks with a possible additional bout in August. Please continue to pray for the people of Peru. There are many videos portraying what is happening in the country (Huaicos/Huayos = landslides).
