Kelly Gordon, my former student and a Red Bank Maryknoll Affiliate for three years, was killed on April 10th as she attempted to cross 84th street in New York City.
Kelly, a senior at Boston College due to graduate in May, was in NYC with her sister to interview for a job. Kelly was a quiet and wonderful young woman who had a deep sense of compassion for all, but especially for children.
The Maryknoll Mission club is based up on the Four Pillars of Maryknoll:
We meet once a month, unless there is a special project that requires more time. We meet before and after school on the third Tuesday of the month. The meetings last approximately 20--30 minutes. Meetings will be held in room 201 at 7:30am and again at 2:30pm. (You choose which time is more convenient for you).
Every member will receive a monthly copy of Maryknoll magazine and be required to read two articles a month to learn more about life in the missions and ways that we can help people. This year (2011 -12) the Fair Trade club and the Maryknoll Mission club will be joined as one club. Students will be invited to sign up for various committees that they would like to work on, such as promoting fair trade in Red Bank, raising awareness of mission conditions for children in Cambodia and Tanzania, helping with various fund raisers, reading prayers on the PA, etc
